Hugh Whitaker Cornwell, age 93, of Hartwell, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the Anderson Medical Center in Anderson, SC. He served in WW 11 a little over Three years in Pacific Theater in the Army Air Corp as an Armorer in the 528th Squadron, 380th Bomber Group (Known as the Flying Circus), The 5th Air Force. He worked as a Materials engineer for ten years in the Georgia Highway Department Lab. He retired after twenty five years from Amoco Oil Company, Asphalt Sales Division as an area sales Manager. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Velta Whitaker Cornwell; brothers, Art Will, Barton and Vernon.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 Am Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Scot Ward's Funeral Home and interment following Green Meadow Cemetery.
