OBIT- WINNEBAGO, Neb. - Julius L. Paulsen Jr., 71, of Winnebago, formerly of Emerson, Nebraska, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 23, 2007, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services were on Monday, March 26th at the Ho-Chunk Community Center in Winnebago. Mr. Larry Payer was in charge of the burial services. Burial took place at the Beaver Family cemetery in Winnebago. Arrangements were under the direction of Munderloh Funeral Home in Pender, Neb. Julius was born March 14, 1936, in Emerson, Neb., the son of Julius Sr. and Dora (Vogt) Paulsen. He was raised in Emerson, where he was a member of the Lutheran Church. He graduated from Winnebago Public School. He served in the 185th Air National Guard. He married Andrea Beaver on July 9, 1960, in Yankton, S.D. Together the couple made their home in Winnebago, where Julius farmed for numerous years. He was also employed by Iowa Beef, Terra Chemical, Winnebago Public Schools, Walbaum's, Brower Construction and Meyer Sawmill. He was a member of the Winnebago Head Start Parent Committee and Winnebago Housing Authority Board. Julius had many hobbies that brought him great joy including mushroom hunting and farming. He raised and raced horses and was an avid animal lover. His hobbies were gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Andrea of Winnebago; his children, Jeena and husband, Jerry White of South Sioux City, Denise and husband, Jim Dannevik of Omaha, Anna Paulsen, Janet Paulsen, Amber Paulsen, Donna Paulsen and Julie Paulsen, all of Winnebago, Jerita Paulsen of Sioux City and Deanna and husband, Nicholas Urbanec of Bismarck, N.D.; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grand children; his mother Dora Paulsen of South Sioux City; and a sister, Jill and husband, Leland Nelson of Hornick, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius Paulsen Sr., his brother, Jack Paulsen; and granddaughters, Keshena Pontiero and Andrea Cabrales; and his mother and father-in-law, Winifred and Gordon Beaver. Pallbearers were Michael Dannevik, Gordon Rave, Garrisen Hanner, Eddie Castillo Jr., Julian Espinoza and Nicholas Urbanec. Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Urbanec, Randall James Urbanec II, Tallsun Martinez, Blake Espinoza, Justin White, Frank Robertson, Matthew Dannevik, Jeremy Paulsen, Aaron Goynes, Jerry White, Brian Robertson, Greg Walker, Jim Dannevik, Dan Wolfe, Leland Nelson and Charlie Gotschall.
