Mary Jane Stilling, the daughter of Joseph B. and Catherine Reiter Stilling was born on April 22, 1923, in Johnsburg, Illinois. She grew up and was educated in Chicago. She graduated from St. Nicholas of Tolentine Grade School, Chicago, and Lindblom High School, Chicago. Lindblom High School is a massive Beaux Arts structure that has been awarded Chicago Landmark status.

Mary Jane married Herman Joseph "Hank" Marino on June 11, 1949,
at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Catholic Church, Chicago.

When they were first married, Hank and Mary Jane lived in apartments on the east side, then on the west side of Chicago.  Hank built their house in Burbank.  They had the cabinets made.  He and Mary Jane hung them. They moved in January 1, 1956. Hank and Mary Jane raised their children there. 

They were blessed with three children:
Herman Joseph, b. September 27, 1951
John William, b. November 29, 1954
Darlene Therese, b. June 6, 1957

Mary Jane was employed for many years at Boyle-Midway, Inc.,
a division of American Home Products. She started back to work when the children were all in grade school, and was in charge of the filing department. She retired in 1989.

Mary Jane volunteered at St. Gerald Catholic Church in the Oak Lawn suburb southwest of Chicago, washing vestments and altar linens. She also volunteered for weekly Eucharistic adoration at St. Bede Catholic Church in Chicago.

She enjoyed playing Bingo at senior citizen centers.

Mary Jane was very talented. She made quilts. She also made expensive dolls with china heads. She was an expert seamstress, sewing clothing for the dolls, and making curtains and drapes for their home.

Mary Jane was a longtime resident of Burbank, a suburb southwest of Chicago. She passed away at home after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease.

She is survived by:
Husband Hank,
Sons Herman J. and John W. (Anne);
Daughter Darlene T. (Ted) Leuders,
Sister Ruth Casey,
7 grandchildren:
Danielle, Michael, Stephen, Kate, and Marty Marino;
and Alec and Giovanna Leuders;
3 great-grandchildren:
Maggie and Grace Marino, and Bridget Barz.

She was preceded in death by:
Parents:
Joseph B. and Catherine Reiter Stilling
Sisters: Louise Stilling, Dorothy Wiechert,
Grace Menig, and Evelyn Rogers.

Lawn Funeral Home, Burbank, was in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, February 3, 2012, at 9:30 a.m.,
at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Burbank.
