Funeral of David S. Akin
Tho funeral of Sergeant David S. Akin, who died at Camp Upton, Yaphank. Long Island, was "held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the home of his mother, Mrs. Mary S. Akin, 10 Brandt Place, the Rev. Dr. E. T. Corrol officiating. The bearers where Francis Morris, William H. Lansing, John Kellogg, William H. Davidson, Alonzo J. Finlayson and Karl Isburgh. Interment was in Green Hill.

Sergeant David Sanford of Amsterdam, well-known in Fulton and Hamilton counties, son of former representative Theron Akin and Mrs. Mary Sanford Akin, died at 2:15 o'clock yesterday morning at Camp Upton, Yap-hank, Long Island, of pneumonia following an illness of about two weeks duration which began with influenza. Mr. Akin's wife, formerly Miss Podvin, and his mother were with him during the last few days of his illness and and will accompany the body to Amsterdam.
Mr. Akin was about 33 years old and was born in Amsterdam, where he resided practically all of his life. For a number of years he was connected with the mills of S. Sanford & Sons in that city. About a year ago he enlisted in the army and at the time of his death was drill sergeant of Company H. Second Development battalion at Camp Upton. He was one of the most widely known young men of Amsterdam, and his death, coming after announcement that he was believed to be out of danger, will cause a shock to many friends.
Sergeant Akin is survived by his father, mother, wife and a half-sister, Mrs. Florence Sawyer, of Syracuse.
