Cheryl Lynn Taliaferro passed away Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, in Lawton.
She was born Feb. 24, 1945, in Stillwater, to Kenneth W. and Lottie Mae (Woolley) Hughes. Cheryl grew up in Lawton and was a 1963 graduate of Lawton High School. Following graduation she worked as a switchboard operator for Fort Sill National Bank. She then began a 24-year career with Blue Cross, Blue Shield, where she worked as a retention representative in Lawton. Cheryl married Richard Taliaferro on Nov. 1, 1980, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Cheryl had a love for cutting horses and cattle. She also raised chickens and was awarded grand champion at the Comanche County Free Fair. She was a member of Letitia Baptist Church and the Breast Cancer Recovery and Support Group.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; children and spouses: Dr. Shawna McCune, Vonda and Jerry Williams, and Kimi and Dr. Larry Chambers; four grandchildren: Johnathon Loera and wife Kaeli, Alexandria Loera, Deekota Williams and Maverick Williams; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Scotty and Candace Hughes, and Dennis and Lyn Hughes.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Tracey Taliaferro.
The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
