Donna Wilson Taylor, who has made her residence at The Blue Water Lodge in Fort Gratiot since August of 2012, passed away at the venerable age of 92 years 0 months and 28 days on September 11, 2016. From 1947 until 2012 she resided in the Sanilac County village of Melvin.

Donna, the eighth of nine children born to Frank and Hattie Donnenworth Wilson, was born August 14, 1924, in Roseburg (Fremont Township) Sanilac County. She graduated from Yale High School in 1941, after which she worked at S.S. Kresges in Port Huron.

Early in 1942 she received a post card (written in shorthand) from her high school business teacher, Mr. Richard Wiersma, encouraging her to apply for a bookkeeping position at the Yale State Bank. Donna worked at the bank as a bookkeeper, teller, and loan administrator for the next 44 years, retiring in August of 1986.

On January 17, 1947, she and Robert D. Taylor were married at the Baptist church parsonage in Melvin. Bob was the rural mail carrier out of the Melvin Post Office for 36 years. He died on June 28, 2005.

Visitation for family and friends of Mrs. Donna Taylor, nee Wilson, will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale.

Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, with 12:00 noon visiting. Rev. Christopher Titus, pastor of Melvin United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Committal will be in Fairview Cemetery, Melvin.
