Donald died unexpectedly at the age of 64, following a planned surgery to repair a thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA).

He was predeceased by his son, Donald Arthur Jr.; parents, William and Evelyn; and brother, Robert.

Donald was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) with a degree in electrical engineering, a retiree from Xerox, and an avid bowler and fisherman.
