He was married about 1894 to Catherine "Kate" Wallace (1875–1956), the daughter of Finley Wallace (1839–1910) and Ann (Scott) Wallace.
A machinist at Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad Shops and living at 3212 Charlotte Avenue, Colin was 72 years old and married when he died on August 19, 1937 of bilateral bronchial pneumonia. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery.
