Susan E.A. Speer was the daughter of Andrew Ewing and Elizabeth nee Williams SPEER. Andrew is the older brother of Jesse Lee Speer. He and his wife died prematurely before their daughter was an adult. So, Jesse Lee and his wife Jane R. nee Williams Speer took Susan into their home. Susan is in their home on the Davidson, TN 1850. In the 1870 Davidson, TN Cenus, Susan has married Allen P. Scruggs and taken into her home Jesse and Jane. However, in the 1880 Davidson, TN Census it shows Jesse Speer as a widower and as their Uncle. It is not too improbable to believe that her mother Elizabeth Williams and her aunt Jane Williams might be sisters. Siblings marrying siblings was not uncommon.
