Ethiopian Royalty. Born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, she was the third daughter and fourth child of Emperor Haile Selassie I and his wife, Empress Menen Asfaw. Trained as a nurse in Great Britain during her father's exile there from 1936 to 1941, she later returned to Ethiopia. Following the return of her father to power in 1941, she married General Abiye Abebe and moved to the Welega Province, where her husband served as governor. The following year she died from complications during pregnancy. She was buried in the crypt of the Ba'eta Le Mariam Monastery. The Princess Tsehai Memorial Hospital was founded in her memory, but after the 1974 revolution, it was renamed the Armed Forces General Hospital.
