Harland Andrew Brown, 68, of Lancaster, California, died on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, doing FEMA Disaster Relief. Andy was born on April 9, 1948, in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Harland and Rita (Gaffney) Brown. He grew up in Independence and was a graduate of St. John’s Catholic High School. He also was a 1970 graduate of the University of Iowa where he received a B.A. degree in history and accounting.

Andy worked for Merrill Lynch Wealth Management and then was an Assistant Vice President of Investments at Wedbush Morgan Securities in Los Angeles, working as a financial consultant until retiring. After retirement, he took a position with FEMA.

Andy loved to travel and research genealogy, researching family history for his family and others. He loved the beach and California. Andrew was well respected for his historical studies along with genealogy.

Survivors include his seven siblings.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Cynthia, at birth.
