“Tiger Tom” played football for Peshtigo High School, #21, until graduating in 1961.
He married the former Dawn Marie LaValley on July 21, 1962, at the American Lutheran Church in Oconto, Wis.
Tom started working making cheese for his father at J.L. Reif and Sons, and then worked for Badger Paper Mills for 39 years, along with owning and operating Reif’s Gas Station.
Tom and Dawn locally owned Century 21 Real Estate offices where Tom did real estate sales until his retirement and decided to keep working as a local real estate appraiser until recently. He loved to hunt and fish with all of the crew up at his camp in Silver Cliff “Rat Shack” AKA “Rennes North.” Every year he would make a new batch of maple syrup to share with everyone. Throughout his life he had a love for animals, especially dogs, and was so proud of his gardens and flowers. Tom had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and always loved being involved in their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn M. Reif; two daughters: Robin (special friend Tim Burgess) Reif of Peshtigo, WI and Shani (Jerry) Shepherd of Appleton, WI; his mother, Doris “Teedee” Reif; four grandchildren: Brianna and Calla Hook, and Trey and Ty Shepherd.
He is also survived by two brothers: Dennis (Lynn) Reif of Madison, WI and Lyn Reif of Peshtigo, WI; a sister-in-law, Donna Reif; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sherry (Willie) Niskanen and Candy (Gary) Daehn.
Along with his father, Jerome, Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerelyn; a brother, Jim; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce (Jack) Grun; and father-in-law, Robert Valley.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peshtigo from Noon until time of services at 4 p.m. with Pastor David Murphy officiating.
Burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
