The Rev. Emil Carl Frederick Stubenvoll III, 91, entered the kingdom of Heaven, the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Rev. Stubenvoll was born July 12, 1925 to Rev. E.C.F. Stubenvoll II and Mabel (Schelein) Stubenvoll at Clintonville, Wis.

Rev. Stubenvoll was baptized and confirmed by his father at Christus Lutheran Church, Clintonville. He attended Clintonville schools until being drafted into the United States Army Air Force.

After basic training at Sheppard Field, TX, he attended radio school in Sioux Falls, SD and gunnery school in Yuma, AZ. before being assigned his crew in Pueblo, CO. He served in the European Theatre of War during World War II flying 23 missions over Germany in a B-24 bomber with the 376th Heavy Bombardment Group, 513th Squadron as a radio operator and waist gunner. He was awarded the European Theatre of Operations Ribbon; Good Conduct Medal; Air Medal, one oak leaf cluster; Presidential Citation, two oak leaf clusters; and six Battle Stars on his ETO ribbon for his service.

After the war Rev. Stubenvoll attended Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, graduating in 1949.

There he met Avis Guthart of Charles City, Iowa and they wed on July 23, 1947. They had four children.

Rev. Stubenvoll attended Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, graduating in 1952 and was ordained by his father in Clintonville. Rev. Stubenvoll served three parishes during his 38 years as a minister of the Gospel of Christ: Hope Lutheran Church, Everly, Iowa 1952-1957; St. John Lutheran Church, Bloomer, Wis. 1957-1962; and First Trinity Lutheran Church, Marinette 1962-1990. Since his retirement he has resided in Marinette. He enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards.

Rev. Stubenvoll is survived by one sister, Hope Dexter of Greenville, WI;
three sons: Fred (Cyndy); Tom, both of Marinette, WI and Tory of Des Moines, Iowa; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; a daughter, Lori; and a granddaughter, Christine.

Funeral services will be held at First Trinity Lutheran Church, 920 Wells St., Marinette, on Friday, October 21, 2016, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Christian Eisenbeis will officiate. Visitation will be held an hour before the funeral service, from 10 until 11 a.m. Lunch at the Parish Hall will follow the service. Burial will be in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
