VETERAN--Army Air Corp
*****
Orin E "Bus" Hollingbery Jr. passed away on March 3, 2013, at home with his family. He was born in San Francisco on September 1, 1922. He graduated from Pullman HS and attended WSC where he played football for his father, "Babe" Hollingbery. On December 8, 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp where he met Jeanette Johnson, an Army Air Corp nurse. They were married March 2, 1944, in Chicago. Following the war he was drafted by the Washington Redskins football team, but sustained a foot injury and returned to Yakima where he joined his father in the hop brokerage firm, Hollingbery and Son, Inc. where he worked until he retired. The following organizations were fortunate to have Bus as a member because of his desire to respond to the needs of those around him: The Terrace Heights Library Tea, Yakima Country Club, OIC Board, Bible Study Fellowship, American Legion, Shriners International, Royal Order of Jesters, Bob Hope Golf Classic, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Elks Club, Rotary, Masonic Temple, YMCA, First Presbyterian Church, and Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He also officiated at high school football and basketball games for many years. He was the Head Marshall of the Bob Hope Desert Classic Golf Tournament and enjoyed the many moments shared with friends and pros. He was also especially proud of founding the local Multiple Sclerosis Society chapter and the work that it has accomplished. During the last 15 years, Bible Study Fellowship became an increasingly important part of Bus's life-an interest and devotion that he energetically shared with friends and family. It would be inappropriate not to mention his innate ability to catch the most and biggest fish.He is survived by his sisters, Marilu (Fred) Andrews and Sister Helen Cecilia Miller; three children, O.E. "Bud" (Patsy) Hollingbery, Joanie Hollingbery, Janet (Greg) Buehler; twelve grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanette, daughter Kirsten (Gary) Cuillier, brother Donald, sister Maybelle Ferrier and grandaughter May Buehler.Bus, Dad, Baku, and Uncle Bus will be sorely missed. He lived large, laughed often and loved many.A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church.
