Beloved Son and Brother

(Back of headstone)
Text from Jon to his Mom Dec 26, 2013
You have to realize you're eventually going to run out of days
to be here. So make it count while you can. Stand up for what
you believe in. Don't let anyone bother you and don't ever
change your convictions. If people are mad at you, good.
You're not being a sissy and letting them walk all over your
beliefs. Just take it a day at a time. Money isn't anything in
life. You can't take it with you. All you're ever going to take
with you in life is either happiness or bitterness and your
faith in God. All you have to do until then is hold yourself
to a highter standard than the rest. It's what will set you
apart from everyone else. I'm not free because I live in America
or anything else other than I say I'm free and there's not a
power in this world that will ever take that from me. I'm
God's child first an American second and nothing will ever
change that regardless of what happens today. I'm going
to have a good day because I say I will and nothing
is going to change that. I'm here temporarily eventually I
have to answer to God for everything I do. I've already
got enough explaining to do to that man so all I can do
now is make the best choices I can. I love you Momma
