My half-great-great-aunt, aka Myrtle Rebecca Williams per genealogical records my dad kept as a teenager.

The following bio is from "George Williams: A Pocatello Pioneer," by Emmons N. Williams, originally written while Leona was still alive. Tense has been changed from present to past to reflect her death.

Leona was born on Feb 18, 1914, in Pocatello, ID, the next to the youngest child of George & Tilda Williams. There was some controversy when it came to naming her. Each parent wanted a different name, & she was called Reba for over 40 years until she acquired a copy of her birth certificate & found that her name was Leona Marion.

Leona had very happy memories of growing up in a large family. There was much love & friendship among the members of the family.

When Leona was around 7 years old she had rheumatic fever which left her in ill health for a few years. During the summers she would spend a month or so with her half-brother Stan & his wife Ila at their ranch in the mountains. Those were happy times for her.

She attended Whittier Elementary School & Franklin Junior High School & graduated from Pocatello High School in 1933. She then went to the University of Idaho, Southern Branch, for 2 years. Leona married Virgil McLinn who was a student at the university.

After their marriage they lived in Emmett, ID, where they had an apple orchard. Their 1st child, Lola Grace, was born in Emmett. Virgil got a job with the Bonneville Power Company as a surveyor, & they moved to the West Coast where they lived until their deaths.

They were living in Shelton, WA, when their 2nd child, Betty Lou, was born. They bought a small farm in Yelm, WA, when their 1st son, John Walter, was born in 1943. In 1945 another son, James Ronald, was born; he lived only a few days.

Three years later they moved to Tacoma, WA, where Virgil went into business as a building contractor. Margaret Rose was born to them in 1947, & they had another son, Daniel Williams, in 1954. They lived in Tacoma for the rest of their lives, residing at 1515 Walters Road.

Virgil died on Oct 23, 1983. Leona followed on July 9, 1997.
