Mrs. Rose Elizabeth Stevens, 73, died Sunday evening at Hoopa Hospital. She was a native of Arcata, and had lived at Johnsons, on the Klamath River, for the past 23 years.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Stevens, also of Johnsons; a son, James Steven Weitchpec; two daughters, Ms. Catherine Blake, Klamath, Mrs. Daraxa Peters, Hoopa; three brothers, Edward Crutchfield, Blue Lake, Irvin Hendricks, Trinidad, Frank Dougles, Klamath; 17 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God church, at Johnsons, with the Rev. Merlin Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Johnsons Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Field's Mortuary.

In 1930, a fourth daughter, Baby Stevens (age 3 years, 8 months), had been added to the family. The 1930 census is the only record where she is listed.

Rose is listed as Rose Donley Stevens in the U.S. Indian Census Rolls. Their son's California death index record listed his mother's maiden name as Donley.

James Charles Stevens, born April 13, 1909 in California, died February 18, 1986 in Humboldt County, CA.

Catherine A. (Stevens) Blake, born April 24, 1910 in California, died October 13, 1978 in Humboldt County, CA.

Daraxa Ann (Stevens) Peters, born July 22, 1911 in California, died June 24, 1995 in Humboldt County, CA.

Baby Stevens (daughter) born about 1926 in California.
