Hempel Funeral Home of Amherst handled the arrangements. Visitation to be held Thursday, August 2, 2012 from late morning until the early afternoon funeral service and will be held at Lake Missionary Baptist Church, South Amherst. Service to be led by the Reverend Earl Conner. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.

Survived by his wife of forty-four (44) years; his son of Lorain; his daughter and son-in-law of Willard; three (3) grandchildren; two (2) great-grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law of New London; and his sister and brother-in-law of Wakeman.

Preceded by his sisters Bernadine Decker (death date and burial location unknown as of November 2016, continuing research), Edith Gregory, and Betty Coen (died 2001, buried in this cemetery, ID# 172598278); and his parents, William McClellan and Clara (Hamilton) Swartz.

He was 69 years old and a resident of Lorain. He passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, Lorain after a prolonged illness. He was born July 2, 1943 in Wellington, Ohio. His parents were William and Clara (Hamilton) Swartz. He attended Wellington High School. He lived in Lorain County for more than forty-four (44) years.

He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was the owner-operator of Amherst Drywall for thirty-one (31) years. He was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church of South Amherst. He enjoyed traveling to the Lorain County Fair and the various area festivals.
