Coleman, Texas to George and Collie Green. He graduated from Bangs High School in Bangs, Texas, in 1949 and Purdue University in 1955, served two years in the army and then taught high school at La Paz, Indiana, for five years.

In 1962 he rejoined the military and served twenty-seven years, retiring in 1987. His tours included Germany, Korea and Vietnam, as well as many stateside assignments. He was a Battalion Commander at Fort Sill from 1970-72. There he met the love of his life Jane Taylor and they were married August 29, 1970. After retirement, he served as Executive Director for the National Guard Association of Michigan for five years. He returned to Lawton in 1993 and co-owned and operated Courtesy Auto Sales for fourteen years.

Colonel Green is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263, the Disabled Veterans of America and the Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 751, which was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Chapter of the Year nationwide. He is a member of Mt. Scott Lodge 540, the India Shrine of Oklahoma City, and a Scottish Rite Mason. He served thirteen years on the Board of Directors of the Fort Sill Federal Credit Union and was Chairman of their building committee, as well as 1st Vice-Chairman of the board.

His military decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star for Valor with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Air Medal for Valor with oak leaf cluster, Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Republic of Vietnam Service Medal with four battle stars, three Vietnam Cross of Gallantry awards, plus many other service decorations.

Additional honors and achievements include the 1997 Outstanding Alumni of Bangs High School, the 2011 VA Wall of Honor recipient, a trustee of the Armed Services YMCA, a volunteer at Fort Sill National Cemetery, VVA Chapter 751 State Delegate and VVA Chapter 751 Director. He was a lifetime member of America’s Veterans Supporters. In 2013 he received his 60-year Master Mason pin
