HOOVER, Ala. John Stanley Ritter, 82, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, at the University Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. He was born and raised in Hatley. He was a 42-year employee of the Frisco and Birmingham Railroads. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Belview Hights Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Marston Ritter, in 1983.
Sevices were Friday, April 17, 1998, at the Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home in Birmingham with the Rev. Curtis Flatt and the Rev. Varney Keith officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Vines Ritter of Birmingham; one son, John S. Ritter Jr. of Franklin, Tenn.; three stepsons, Tab Vines, John Vines and Don Vines; one daughter, Janet R. Humphries of Atlanta, Ga.; three grandchildren, John Ritter III, Marcus Humphries and Adrienne Ritter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lige Ritter.
