Mr. Rowell was born February 15, 1882 in Sterling, Nebraska. He made his home there until about 20 years old when he entered railroad service and worked in various areas in the Northwest.
At the beginning of World War I, he entered the British Navy and later enlisted in the US Navy. In 1932 he moved to the Flathead and engaged in ranching operations until 1941 when he re-entered railroad service. He retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad 18 years ago, and had made his home in Dorris, California since.
Mr. Rowell was a member of the American Legion, Elks, Masons, and Scottish Rite Masons.
He is survived by his widow, Martha at the family home in Dorris, California; one son Fred Rowell of Yakima, Washington and one daughter Jean Kauffman of Kalispell.
