Daughter of Vera Jaquetta Child and Francis Freeman Vause. She married at 19 years to Gordon H. Berg of Portland, Oregon. She met Gordon, an Army Air Corps pilot at Pendleton, Oregon where he was training in B-25's in 1941, where she was living with her parents and attending Reed College in Portland and was home for the summer. Following their marriage in January 1942 the newlyweds moved to the East Coast for further for his participation for the war.
Atellia is preceded in death by her daughter, Sydney Louise Berg who died in a car accident at a young age, husband, Gordon H. Berg and second husband Victor Doherty. She is survived by three sons and one daughter.
