Our Heavenly Father called James Stillman home to Him on the morning of November 30, 2016. Jim used every minute of his life to serve The Lord and all of those around him.
Jim graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1967.

In November of 1973, Jim married his best friend and the love of his life, Sheila Bates.

Jim proudly worked 25 years for Badger Paper Mills before God called him to teach. He returned to school, studying at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English and later a Master’s Degree in Education.
In 1996, Jim started his teaching career at Peshtigo High School, working tirelessly to prepare young minds for college and the future. Jim gave selflessly of his time; he held a passion for the prosperity of his students that often burned well beyond the end of the school day, consuming as many hours outside the school as inside it.
Many students returned to Peshtigo High to share their success stories with Jim. He found so much joy in his students’ accomplishments.

When Jim finished his day in the classroom, he headed out to the track, coaching track and cross country, inspiring kids to reach their personal best. Jim pushed his runners to dig deep, find discipline, always improve, and strive for the success of the whole team. Winning was just an extra blessing. And on Friday nights, Sheila could sit on their river bank and hear her husband’s voice calling the Bulldog’s football game and firing up the crowd.

Jim’s passion for his students for grew from his strong faith in The Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord brought Jim to salvation in 1976, starting his lifelong journey as a faithful disciple. Jim and his wife, Sheila, taught and mentored church youth groups and Sunday School classes for many years. A Sunday School class with Jim always promised a dose of God’s truth and a box of donuts. Jim and Sheila also opened their home to many youth group activities and counseling sessions. Their beautiful land on the Peshtigo River provided the setting for many testimonies and baptisms.
In addition to his youth ministry, Jim participated in a Saturday nursing home ministry, sharing God’s word through preaching and music. Jim loved to sing gospel music with his brother and sisters, even composing his own songs of praise.
Jim was a devoted husband and father. Every summer for over 30 years, he drove his family North to Franklin Lake, where they hiked, swam, cooked food on the fire, and took in the blessings of the outdoors together. Jim took care of everything at home, too, making time for all of the projects his wife could dream up. He developed an interest in horticulture, landscaping, and organic gardening, and he and his wife worked summers for Schroeder's Flower Mart in Green Bay, WI. Jim especially enjoyed talking plants with the customers; helping with plant selections and sharing his new found knowledge. Most importantly, Jim raised his family according to God’s principles, always living the example. God blessed Jim with special recognitions: gold watch for 25 years of service to Badger Paper Mills; Herb Kohl Educational Foundation 2012 Fellowship Award.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila;

and daughter Jeana, both of Green Bay, WI;
his sisters: Gailee Stillman of Riverton, Wyo.; and Jean (Chris) Brown also of Riverton, Wyo. and their son, Pete of Afghanistan;
