William was born in Lawrence on March 10, 1921, where he grew up and was educated, graduating from Lawrence High School. He was a resident of Windham for the past 28 years.
William was a firefighter in Lawrence for 32 years, stationed at Engine 8 on Tower Hill and also was employed during this time as a union welder for Process Engineering in order to support his wife and family of seven children. He had previously worked both before and after World War II at the Quincy Naval Shipyard. William enlisted in the U.S. Navy after Pearl Harbor and served bravely in the Pacific Theatre for the remainder of Word War II.
William was a member of St. Joseph's Church, the International Association of Firefighters, the Boilermakers of America and the Holy Name Society of Lawrence. He loved fixing clocks and enjoyed carpentry. William especially loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Janet M. Bourque, and his beloved wife of 56 years, Florence A. (Berube) Bourque.
Survived by three sons, Ronald Bourque of Windham, Michael Bourque of Windham, Frank Bourque and his wife Sandy of Raymond, N.H.; three daughters, Pauline and her husband William Kane of Derry, N.H., Marie and her husband Robert Brown of Derry, Doris and her husband Mark Alfano of Salem, N.H.; 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
