HOOSICK FALLS-

Funeral services were held Monday morning, December 30, 1957, for William F. Tynan, a long-time newspaperman who died Friday, December 27, 1957, at his home on Cummings Street in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was in failing health for some time and was retired since 1953.

Born September 26, 1882, he was the son of the late Daniel and Louisa Fales Tynan. He was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy in 1898 and for more than 25 years was a member of the advertising staff of the former Walter A. Wood Co. For many years, he was advertising manager of the company, and was with it at the time of its dissolution in 1927. From that time until 1953 he was engaged as a newspaperman.

For more than 25 years, he served as associate editor of the Hoosick Falls Standard Press. He was also a correspondent for the Troy Record. He was a member of Hosick Falls Council Knights of Columbus, and was a former Grand Knight if the council. He was an exempt fireman, having served for many years as a member of Hook & Ladder #1.

His only survivor was a sister, Miss Mary A. Doyle, of Hoosick Falls, NY.

A requiem high Mass was sung Monday morning, December 30, 1957, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception and burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery.

The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. John J. Lamond, O.S.A., and the Rev. Donald J. Ammering, O.S.A., officated at committal services. The fire bell was tolled as the Mass commenced, and the Hoosick Falls Standard Press closed and the employees attended the service.

The pallbearers were: James Fleming, Daniel Boylan, Frank Davock, Leo Mulvihill, Joseph Dwyer, and James M. Brahan.
