Aviation Pioneer. She is credited as being the first woman aviator in Spanish Aviation's history. At age seven, she crashed on her first attempt to fly an aircraft, breaking both of her legs, and it would be nine years later before trying again. On January 19, 1931, at the age of 18, Colomer obtained her aviator license and started working as a trainer. She took every chance offered to fly a plane. After reaching the required 60 flight hours, she was able to take the examination to become a commercial pilot in September of 1933. Loyal to the Spanish Republican Government, she made her first military flight on August 2, 1936. She was the exception to the rule of having women in the military. She trained some seventy male pilots who were incorporated into the army of the Spanish Republic. After the Spanish Civil War, she was forced into exile with her husband, settling in England. During World War II, her husband was a pilot in the Royal Air Force, while she gave birth to twins during a bombing raid. From that point on, her focus was being a mother. Later in life, she returned to Catalonia to find all her friends and family had died or moved away from the area. She died in Surrey and according her wishes, her remains were cremated and brought back to her hometown to be buried.
