George Kitchen Stidham was a chief model maker for the U.S. Navy. They moved him from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C. on orders of Admiral Nichborn of the Navy. He was an expert on architectural drawings and a designer of mock up models.

Rock Creek Cemetery web site says he was buried on 19 Mar 1899. Was he buried somewhere else and then reburied here?
