Woodrow "Woody" was the youngest son of Alfred Whitten and Pinkie B. Stewart Moyers. Woody joined the Navy, he had another brother, AW also in the Navy, a brother Bill in the Army and two brother in laws also serving in WWII. Woodrow being the youngest of the men in the service and the baby of the family, his parents were so relieved upon all their family members being discharged and home safe that upon the final son to get discharged they put on a huge cookout and invited the whole community to help them celebrate. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he worked for the railroad, married first to Mildred Wakham and had two chidlren, a son Jimmie Joe, died only days after he was born and a daughter. He and Mildred divorced and he married again to Leona Ausbrooks Haynes, better known to all as Lee, this marriage lasted until Woody's death. He was the step father of one son. Upon his retirement from the railroad he pittled with wood and made things from wood and he and his wife would paint them to take to arts and craft shows. He enjoyed working in the garage with his stepson on cars.
He became ill and fought a hard battle with cancer.
