April Darlene Layner Swearingen, 52 of Parkersburg died Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV.

She and her twin brother were born as the youngest of a large family to Brooks and Kathryn Layner of Elizabeth, WV. on April 24, 1964.

At a young age she married the late Donnie Riggs and was blessed with two children before ultimately marrying the love of her life, the late Charles Swearingen. Her trademark laugh was infectious. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by both her children, Derrick Riggs and Heather Riggs; her loving sister, Kathryn Layner Cross and her brothers, Darrell Dennis, James Layner and Melvin Layner.

She is survived by her twin brother, Anthony (Lesa) Layner whom she adored; five sisters, Sharon (Jake) Dowler, Janet (Jim) Wright, Alberta (David) Sims, Evelyn Wayne, Joyce (Junior) Starcher, Larry (Donna) Dennis and Denzil Seckman. Two Grandsons, Dedrick and Garrison Riggs and dozens of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00am at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Glen McBride officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6-8pm.

The family would like to thank Hubbard Hospice House for their exceptional care for April and the family during such a difficult time.
