Mrs. Augusta Blount, of Waycross died Saturday night at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born January 27, 1931 in Hapeville, Georgia, the youngest of three daughters of Judge Quincy Arnold and Louise Tripod Arnold. She graduated from Hapeville High School in 1948.

She attended the University of Georgia from 1948 to 1952 and graduated with a degree in journalism. While at the University of Georgia she met Clarence D. Blount and they were married on October 18, 1952.

During the early years of their marriage she taught the 5th grade at Wacona Elementary School and then became a full time mother to their three children, Patty, Jeff and Brian.

Mrs. Blount was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church of Waycross. She also served as a volunteer for the Satilla Regional Medical Center hospital auxiliary for many years.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Louise Arnold Hilliard and Martha Arnold Helming.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Judge Clarence Blount of Waycross, her daughter, Dr. Patricia Blount and her husband Dr. Ilan Zawadzki of Seattle, Washington, two sons, Jeffrey Wayne Blount of Waycross, Brian Arnold Blount, Sr., and his wife Rhonda of Waycross, five grandchildren: Brian Arnold Blount, Jr. John Michael Blount, Tiffany Cash Goggin and her husband Sean, Miriam Zawadzki, Jonathan Zawadzki and Benjamin Zawadzki.

In addition to her loving and tireless support of her family and hospital volunteer work, she was an active and devoted member of her church and an avid Bridge player. She loved to collect recipes and try new dishes out on her family and friends.

The family requests that any charitable donations made in her memory be directed to Grace Episcopal Church of Waycross, 401 Pendleton Street, Waycross, Georgia 31501.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday morning at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
