WINDOW ROCK — Services for Johnson Benally, 78, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, March 11 at St. Michaels Catholic Church. Father B. Cormack will officiate.

Benally died March 7 in Albuquerque. He was born Dec. 3, 1925 in Red Valley, Ariz. into the Clamp Tree People Clan for the Mexican People Clan.

Benally attended school in Shiprock and Ganado Mission School and the University in Albuquerque. He was a member of the Navajo Code Talkers. He was employed with the Navajo Tribe.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Ann Benally; sons, Floyd Benally, Tyrone Benally, Stanford Benally, Byron Yazzie and Darrell Yazzie; daughters, Jennifer Benally; Gerldine Benally, Theresa Benally and Lydia Yazzie; brothers, Robert Benally, Nat D. Benally and Ned T. Benally; sisters, Lucinda Henry; and 18 grandchildren.

Benally was preceded in death by his parents, Delwashii and Capitan Benally; brothers, Jimmy Benally, Earl Benally, Lee Benally, Jay Benally, Bernard Benally and Fred Benally; and sisters, Lola Bekis and Susie Jim.

The family will receive friends and relatives after the burial services at the recreation center behind the St. Michael's Church
