George was the son of August Moungie and Adia Wiley. On 19 Jun 1901 he married Ida Wilburn and they had two children, Thelma and Ruth. He was a long-time employee in the stone-cutting industry in Bedford. George died at Dunn Memorial Hospital of diabetes mellitus at the age of 63.
