David was born Dec 29th, 1922 in Kansas City, Kansas to Pete Monslow and Mercy Ontiveros. He attended Wyandotte High School prior to joining the Navy in December 1941 and serving through WWII.

He was married for about a year to Betty Ivanelle Sykes prior to divorcing. They resided in his family's home at 301 S 14th Street, KCK. There we no children.

In the early 1950's he and Zerlene moved from Kansas to Oregon instead of San Fransisco based upon a flip of a coin. He was the father of three sons, Chuck (who proceeded him in death), and two other sons.

He was a butcher, as was his father, and served as the Vice President of his union for several years. After retiring he worked independently using his charm and engaging personality selling sausage, jerky and other similar products. Later he worked as a grounds keeper at two golf courses, one in Oregon and one in Iola. This was a good fit for him given how much time he had spent on the golf course, not only golfing but amassing large quantities of golf balls using is retriever to get them from water hazards.

About 1997 he moved from Oregon to Neosho Falls to be closer to his sister Marge and his brothers Pete and Joe in KCK. He was frequently and Windsor Place when Zerlene was there helping not only her but others.

He spent his remaining years in Oregon with his son, his son's companion, and a grandson.

Dave passed away two days shy of his 94th birthday on December 27, 2016 and was the last surviving sibling of his family. He is survived by his two sons, his daughter-in-law Susana, a son's companion, and three grandchildren.

Dave was laid to rest after his funeral at St. Martin's on 24 Jun 2017.
