Mrs. Frank DiMatteo, 49, of Marshallton died in Chester County Hospital this morning following an accident in which her 1950 sedan was hit broadside by a truck at Johnson's Corner, eight miles south of West Chester, at 8 a.m.

Head and internal injuries led to the death of Mrs. DiMatteo a short time after her car was involved in a collision with a truck driven by Andre Foucher, 23, of Brookview Apts., Claymont, Del.

Foucher sustained a fractured leg and is also undergoing x-rays for possible pelvic injuries. Also in the truck was John H. Brandenbergh, 29, of 3909 Concord Pike, Wilmington. He was not injured.

Mrs. DiMatteo, mother of four grown children, was headed south on Route 202 when she attempted to make a left turn at Johnson's Corner at the intersection of Route 491 in Delaware county. The car and truck were both heavily damaged in the early morning crash.

Trooper Samuel Mackey from the state police barracks at Media was assigned to investigate the collision which led to the death of the DiMatteo woman and injury to the truck driver.

Mrs. DiMatteo's southbound car was following a truck just before starting to make the turn. The larger vehicle may have obscured the forward vision of the Marshallton woman.

The victim's husband, Frank, formerly operated a dry cleaning business on W. Gay St., West Chester. He is now retired.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Paul and Albert, of Marshallton; Frances, wife of Michael Russo and Peggy, wife of John Sgaviccio, both of Claymmont, Del. Her father, Carlo Ferri, who makes his home with the family in Marshallton, also survives. One brother and six sisters survive.

Mrs. DiMatteo was a member of St. Agnes' Catholic Church, in West Chester. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of Italian Social Club, West Chester, and St. Anthony's Lodge, Sons of Italy, in Downingtown.

DiMATTEO- In West Chester on May 18th, 1956, Rose M., wife of Frank DiMatteo in her 50th year.
