Helen Maxine Hughes, 74, of Springfield, died at 9:58 pm, Thursday, January 5, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital. She was born May 25, 1942 in Stonington, to Orville and Sarah Clark Grant. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Rick Hughes and granddaughter, Danielle Hughes.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph (Shelly) Hughes and Rodney Hughes, both of Springfield; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Hanson of Sandwich and Doris (Gene) Maxedon of Varna; two brothers, Fred (Julia) Grant of Walnut and Clarence (Mary) Grant of Mt. Carroll and numerous nieces and nephews.
Maxine retired from St. John’s Hospital admissions department after 40 years of service. She enjoyed being with family, neighbors and friends.
Visitation: 11 am – 1 pm, Monday, January 9, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield.
Funeral Service: 1 pm, Monday, January 9, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.
Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
