Leroy Franklin Davis, age 83, of Douglasville, formerly of Centre, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017

Mr. Davis was born June 21, 1933, in Floyd County, a son of the late Albert Davis, and Elva Blalock Davis. He was retired from Richie's Tire. Mr. Davis was a veteran of United States Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shelby Jean Zucker Davis, and his second wife, Vera Mai Cagle Davis, brothers, Newton, Charles and Thomas Davis, sisters, Evelyn Barnett, Emma Wright, Martha Potts, and Marie Dixon.

Survivors include his children, Ronald (Bernice) Davis, Ft. Oglethorpe; Bobby Cornell Stevens, Adairsville; Allen Lynn Stevens, Centre; Vickie Jean (Richard) Barner, Douglasville; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 8, 2017, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Steve Kelley, officiating. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery, in Centre, Alabama, with Shanklin-Attaway Post Five Honor guard conducting full military graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service on Sunday, at Good Shepherd Funeral Home 2750 Shorter Ave. Rome, Ga. 30165.

Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Additional edit on March 18, 2021, from Lila Cole: An amendment to the obit, so people don't get confused: son of Albert Franklin Davis and Elva Pauline Williams. Elva apparently went by her maternal grandparents' surname Blalock at times, since they all lived with the grandparents growing up.
