Carolyn M. Fendorf, 84, of Lenexa, KS, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Carolyn was born January 13, 1932 in Iberia, MO. In 1942 her family moved to Kansas City, KS. She was a 1949 graduate of Wyandotte High School, and received a Bachelor's degree in Education from Kansas State University and Masters in Reading Education from the University of Kansas.

She dedicated her life to the education of children, and spent 30 years teaching in the Shawnee Mission School District. She also taught children of US military personnel on bases in Japan and Germany.

Carolyn was an active, longtime member of Village Church where she was a deacon and was honored as a Volunteer of the Year. She was an avid traveler, and traveled to all parts of the globe during her wonderful life.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Icie Fendorf, and her brothers Frank, Jim, Fred and Dale.

Carolyn is survived by her brother Dr. Ken Fendorf (Joyce) of Santa Cruz, CA, her sister Marilyn Gunderman (Norm) of Shawnee, KS, 9 nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and a large extended family.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017 at Porter Funeral Home, 8535 Monrovia St, Lenexa, KS. Memorial Services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, at Village Presbyterian Church, 6641 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS. Private family burial.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Johnson County Community College Foundation, 12345 College Blvd, Overland Park, KS 66210 c/o Adrianne Wilson.
