LAKE CHAMPLAIN, VT. - Anna "Pat" Patricia (Johnson) Welch, passed away on January 7th 2017 at her home, the Cedars on the shore of Lake Champlain.
She was born on October 29th 1927 in Springfield, Vt., she was the daughter of Governor Joseph Blaine and Virginia Frances (Slack) Johnson.
"Pat" attended Springfield schools, the College of William and Mary and graduated from the University of Vermont in 1949 with a B.S. degree in Banking, Finance and Insurance.
She worked at the Shawmut Bank in Boston, MA until marrying Stephen "Steve" Townsend Welch, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on June 27th 1953 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, Vermont.
She was predeceased by her mother, Virginia Frances Slack Johnson in 1983 and Governor Joseph Blaine Johnson in 1986; her daughter Linda Catherine Welch in 2014; and grandson Philip Blaine Welch in 1991.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 18th 2017 at 11:00 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Vergennes, Vt.
