Odilon Savoie, 89, of Bouctouche and formerly of Saint-Maurice de Kent, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at the Stella Maris de Kent Hospital, Sainte-Anne de Kent on Sunday September 15th, 2013. He was married to the late Hélène Maillet (1981) and the late Nélida Richard (2006). Born in Saint-Maurice de Kent, he was the son of the late William and the late Azélie (Poirier) Savoie.
He will be sadly missed by his eight children; Dorine Richard (Gerald) of Saint-Maurice, Geraldine Bastarache (Cléo), Florence Savoie of Bouctouche, Lyda Allain (Harry) of Miramichi, Diane Bourque (Raoul) of Cocagne, Zita Robichaud (Paul) and Jackie Catania (Johnny) of Bellerica, Mass, and Clarence (Jeannine) of Newton, Mass. his nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn one step son; Réginald Richard (Claudine) of Bouctouche and one step-daughter; Nicole Collette (Normand) of Saint-Norbert, four sisters; Sr Huberte Savoie ndsc, Sr Yolande Savoie ndsc both of Bouctouche, Claudia Flett of Belmont, Mass, Georgina Moore of Bellerica, Mass, and several nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by one sister; Aline Caissie and seven brothers; Aldéo, André, Raymond, Désiré, Eugère, Fidèle and Adelard.
Visitations will be held at the Sainte-Anne de Kent Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, on Tuesday September 17th, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and on Wednesday from 9 to 10:45 am. Funeral Mass will be held at the Sainte-Anne de Kent Church on Wednesday September 18th, 2013 at 11:00 am with interment in the parish cemetery.
In Odilon’s memory donations can be made to the Dr Georges L Dumont Hospital Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Maillet Funeral Home Ltd., Bouctouche.
