Professional Football Executive. Born David Orrick McDearmon Jr., he served as the president and COO (chief operating officer) of the National Football League's Baltimore Ravens from 1996 to 2004. He, along with his brother John, were adopted by Art Modell, the owner of the NFL's Cleveland Browns, when he married their mother, actress Patricia Breslin, in 1969. He began working for the Browns at the age of 14, helping the grounds crew. He would go on to serve in the team’s ticket office, public relations department and later started the first team marketing division in the NFL. Following the team's controversial decision to move from Cleveland to Baltimore, he was instrumental in the selection of the team’s name and colors. He served as the president and COO of the Ravens from 1996 to 2004 and was in charge of negotiating player contracts as well as running other aspects of the team’s business. He also influenced the decision to hire coach Brian Billick, who led the Ravens to a Super Bowl victory in 2000. After his father sold the team to a new ownership group in 2004, he went on to start a new business, 3ality Digital, which provides 3D entertainment solutions from image captures through broadcast, in any viewing platform, for various consumers. He passed away after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.
