Georgia Elizabeth Hajovsky Seifert, 93, of Weimar, Texas passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 in Columbus, Texas.

She was born February 1, 1923, at Holman, Texas to Joseph J. and Mary Vacek Hajovsky, and married Edward Jerome “Blackie” Seifert, of Weimar, Texas, on February 5, 1942 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Holman, Texas. In the early years of their marriage, she followed her soldier husband to Camp Adair in Oregon, working for Corvallis Taxi Service and for Oregon State University in the Office of Visual Instructions. She then moved with her husband to Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she worked as an advertising designer for Sears Roebuck & Company, and to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where she worked at Eiferts. While her husband was overseas during WWII, she worked at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas in the Cost Accounting Department. After the war, she and her husband started the business of Butane Gas and Equipment Company in Weimar. Georgia and Blackie bought the Banse farm in 1953 and developed part of it into a housing addition. She researched the history of the home that was a part of the farm, and found it to be built by John Holman in 1875 and that her husband’s ancestors, Anton and Mary Halfmann Seifert, had also lived on the same farm prior to the Banse family. This home received a historical marker from the State of Texas in 1976.

She traveled extensively throughout the world and found great joy in reading. She loved deer hunting and continued to hunt into her 70’s. She also spent many hours researching the genealogy of her family tree and that of her husband, tracing most of them back to the family origins in Europe. In her later years when she couldn’t get around as much, she loved to watch football games and the Cooking Channel on TV. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the KJZT organization.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Yvonne and Bob Lowe of Columbus, Mary Jane and Bob Schobel of Columbus, and Wanda and Mike Alexander of Columbus, and her son Mark Henry Seifert of Weimar. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Farris of Austin, Russell Lowe and wife Ashley of Corpus Christi, Kirk Lowe and wife Stacey of Columbus, Kristen Heffley and husband Steve of Columbus, Nicole Gilger and husband Matt of Cedar Park, Bo Schobel and wife Lyndsay of Columbus, Brad Alexander of New York City, Sarah Lilie and husband Matt of Drippings Springs, and Jon Alexander and wife Kailey of Columbus, and by her great-grandchildren Kate Farris, Jack Farris, Ava Lowe, Russell Lowe Jr., Hayden Lowe, Isabella Lowe, Olivia Lowe, Jacob Heffley, Makenzie Heffley, Owen Gilger, Georgia Elle Gilger, Quinn Gilger, Dayne Schobel, Lainey Schobel, Gracie Schobel, Lucy Schobel, Addison Lilie, Austin Lilie, and Perri Jade Alexander. Seifert, sisters, Mary Harrie, Frances Hluchanek, Agnes Hajovsky, Magdalina Hajovsky, Annie Sumbera, and Lillian Kennedy, and by her brothers John Hajovsky, Joe Hajovsky, Henry Hajovsky, Steve Hajovsky, and Jerome Hajovsky.
