Shannon was born in Decatur,AL to Jean Ward Smith and Bobby Howard Smith. After the death of her father, she was adopted at the age of 3 by her stepfather Richard Floyd Adcock.

She was diagnosed at age 5 with epilepsy which was controlled by medication for the next 30+ years of her life.

She was an avid skydiver and enjoyed a career as a service rep for major companies during her adulthood until her epileptic seizures returned despite medication in her late 30's. She became unable to work, lost most of her independence, depending on family and friends to transport her wherever she needed to be. This brought on bouts of depression yet she'd always rally to start some new project, enjoying crafting and gardening.

She became her family's genealogist, garnering thousands of bits of information about her family's heritage which she shared here on Find a Grave.

Two weeks before her 44th birthday, she succumbed to her final seizure, dying of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy).

Those who ever knew and loved Shannon will always remember her quick wit, her easy laugh and her genuine concern and generosity toward anyone and everyone. A shining star she'll forever be in the hearts of those who loved her.
