Francis Bud William Beattie, Jr., 79, longtime Amberg, WI resident died Sunday, Feb. 1 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Mi., after a few years of battling cancer.
He was born Dec. 27, 1929 in Blue Island, Ill., he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis (Mabel Duenn) Beattie, Sr.

He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, where he was awarded two Purple Hearts. He was employed as a gasoline tanker driver most of his adult life. His interests included stock car racing, fishing, hunting and spending time at his cabin, snowmobiling and swimming.

He is survived by longtime dearest friend, Betty Hearty of Amberg, WI;
a brother, Jack Beattie of Amberg, WI;
seven sisters: Mrs. Stanley (Marilyn) Midtbo, Mrs. Robert (Mary Jane) Axcell and Jean Ylvisaker, all of Edgerton, Sandy Carter of Amberg, WI; Mrs. Harry (Karen) Mathias of Stephenson, MI; Dorothy Whitaker of Oakland, Ore. and Mrs. Gary (Debra) Edwards of Yelm, Wash.; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; a brother-in-law, Dale Espy of Amberg and many friends, including childhood friend, Dick Holmes of Amberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert; two sisters, Joan Mattison and Marion Espy and three brothers-in-law.

Visitation was held at Amberg Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at noon. Rev. Fred Wadsworth officiated and burial took place in the Amberg Cemetery.
