Robert Hack Branson was born on December 10 1858 in Barrowden, Rutland, England, the illegitimate son of Lois Branson (b1827 Bringhurst, Leicestershire, England - d1915 Barrowden, Rutland, England) and Robert Hack (abt 1921/25). He was baptised on 22 July 1860 in Manton, Rutland, England.

He had two half sisters Elizabeth Tomblin (b Aug 1866 Barrowden, Rutland) and Louisa Tomblin (b Oct 1869 Barrowden) when his mother Lois married Robert Tomblin (b1817 Barrowden - d1877 Uppingham, Rutland) - marriage July 1865 Uppingham, Rutland.

He made the journey to New York following immigration to Canada in 1884, and officially naturalizing in Illinois, Chicago, USA on September 18 1893.

He married on November 1 1918 to Karla L from Denmark (further information unknown), her passport suggested her DOB to be June 11 1887 Copenhagen, Denmark.
