Amie Lunt is the only known child of James R. Lunt (1821-1860) and Linda Taylor (1825-1879). The Lunt line came to America when Henry Lunt immigrated from Wilkshire, England in 1635 to Newbury, Massachusetts. The Lunt family resided for many generations thereafter in Maine. James was the son of Nathaniel (1794-1866).
Amie was born in Massachusetts before her parents struck out west to San Francisco for the gold rush. Her father, James, unfortunately contracted consumption (tuberculosis) and succumbed to it at the age of 39. Her mother, Linda, survived another 19 years but died when she was only 54.
Amie met and married Samuel Heitshu in San Francisco where they had four children, Gertrude Elizabeth (Shepard), Alice Harriet (Ainsworth), Amy Lunt (Sewall), and Alan Lunt Heitshu. Samuel and Amie would move to Portland where she would pass away in 1912.
