Longtime Happy Camp resident, Julio Silva, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2016. He was 90 years old. Julio was born on July 30, 1925 to Delores and Amada Silva in Redding. He served in the United States Armed Forces from 1943-1946, originally with the Navy, and then the Marines. Julio is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Viola Silva (Hansen); five children: Francis "Frank" (Mary) Silva of Redding, Armand (Yolanda) Silva of Paradise, Cynthia (Greg) Hamilton of Willows, Timothy (Kristy) Silva of Willows, and Andreé Silva (Antonio) of Happy Camp; 26 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and a son, Melvin Silva. A memorial service will be held for Julio at the Northern California Veteran's Cemetery, 11800 Gas Point Road, Igo, California, on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
