Marian was married twice. First to Lee Frank Frampton in November 1915. He abandoned her in April 1916 and she sued for divorce in July 1918. A second marriage to Burton P. Williams took place in July 1920. This too was apparently not a happy union and the couple grew estranged by the time of her death. It did however produce two daughters Virginia and Marjorie who were 12 and 11 years old respectively at the time of their mother's death in January 1937. Both of the girls were raised by their grandmother (Maria Carson) and their aunt Rachel Carson in Silver Spring and Takoma Park, Maryland. Marjorie died of pneumonia in January of 1957 leaving behind her nearly five year old son Roger Christie who was then adopted by his great aunt Rachel Carson- by now a celebrated author Rachel.
