Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzie” Downs was born December 31, 1864 in Bryan County, Georgia, one of twelve children of Confederate veteran Emmett Thomas Downs and Edna Josephine Pate Downs. Lizzie died at age six on June 1, 1871 in Bryan County and is probably buried near her parents in Little Creek Cemetery in Bryan County. Her ancestry was Scots and English.
