William "Bill" English was born and raised in Charlestown, Massachusetts. At age 18 (in 1941), he enlisted in the US Army during World War II. While serving, he met Claire Mullins (1944). Both achieved the rank of Corporal in their respective branches. After discharging, the two married and had two children: Paul William English in March 1951, and Kathleen Claire English in June 1952. Bill and Claire divorced in the 1960s, and they both remained in the Boston area for the remainder of their lives.
Bill died at age 94 in January 2017. He left behind his two children and a grandchild, Dani English (b. 1998), as well as his girlfriend, whose name is unknown to the family. He was buried in Bourne National Cemetery later that month.
