Simon J. (Sy) Peterson, 78, of East Bridgewater, passed away peacefully on Jan. 9, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He served in the U.S. Army and had worked at the Federal Reserve Bank for 25 years before taking an early retirement. He later went on to work for Forrester Contracting for another 13 years. He enjoyed cooking, going to Foxwoods, playing cribbage weekly with his friends, and spending time with his many grandchildren. Simon was the beloved husband of Marjorie E. (Wall) Peterson; loving father of Patricia M. Souza of E. Bridgewater, Michael A. Peterson and his wife Marcia of Berkley and Robert J. Peterson and his wife Anna of E. Bridgewater; beloved grandfather of Daniel T. Souza Jr. and wife Katie, Christopher J. Souza and wife Stacey, Bryan A. Souza, Melissa M. Souza, Michael A. Peterson Jr., McKenna J. Peterson, Nikole A. Peterson, Zoe V. Peterson and Kayla Simone Peterson; great-grandfather of Amber R. Souza and Benjamin D. Souza; brother of Kenneth Peterson (and Dorothy) of S. Weymouth and the late Frances Adley, Ethel Nuppy Key and Richard and Ronald Peterson. He also leaves his good friends John Coughlin, Cliff Orcutt and John Forrester, as well as his faithful dog Rocky. All are welcome to calling hours Tuesday 5 - 7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. service in Waitt Funeral Chapel at Waitt Funeral Home, 850 North Main St., Brockton. Cremation and committal at a later date.
